England’s regular Test vice-captain, Ben Stokes, has been promoted to the captaincy in the absence of Joe Root, on paternity leave, and Buttler is taking on Stokes’ previous role. England hope to have Root back for the second Test.The three-day warm-up match will feature 27 players – there are 14 on Buttler’s side and 13 on Stokes’ – so will not have first-class status. The only three players from the 30-man training squad not taking part are Amar Virdi, Jamie Overton and Root. All three are understood to be fit, but Root is leaving the squad on Wednesday to attend the birth of his second child and the team management have decided that, in order for key players to gain the match practice required, there is no room for the other two. While it remains possible England could recall Bairstow as a specialist batting replacement for Root – he is probably competing with Dan Lawrence and Joe Denly for the position – his preference for batting in the middle order may count against him.Equally, it is possible England could play Buttler as a specialist batsman and recall Foakes. Certainly Buttler’s Test record as a specialist batsman – 35.68 in 20 Tests – is significantly better than his record as an all-rounder – he averages 27.43 in 21 Tests when he has kept – but all the evidence suggests England are inclined to make few changes.If possession really is a key factor in this selection, it would appear to be good news for Denly and Dom Bess, too. The likes of Nuno Taveres, Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been tipped to potentially leave Arsenal as well, leading to suggestions that the north Londoners could move for a new full-back within the next few months.

Fenerbahce star and Turkey international Ferdi Kadioglu has been subject to intense interest from Arsenal in this regard, with some reports even claiming that the 24-year-old is keen on making a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Ben White, Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been utilised in the full-back areas by Arteta over 2024, while Zinchenko has come under some criticism. It was reported this week that Zinchenko is unhappy at Arsenal and seeking more game time after falling down the pecking order, so this could well be the Ukraine international's final summer in London.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal chiefs do opt to bring in a new option in that position, and one very interesting name who's been floated this week is Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

Kimmich would be interested in joining Arsenal

As per Sky Germany reporter Kerry Hau, speaking on a live broadcast (via Bayern and Germany), Kimmich would be interested in joining Arsenal among other elite clubs – as the 29-year-old is "left hanging" over an extension.

"So far, Bayern have not communicated a clear indication to Joshua Kimmich that they want to extend his contract," said Hau.

"Max Eberl has not told Kimmich clearly: 'We want to extend with you after the Euros' – That's why the player has somewhat been 'left hanging'. In case of a move, Kimmich would only join an absolute ambitious top club. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal would be options for him. But at the moment, there are no talks with any other club."

Given his versatility and experience at the highest level, there is little doubt he'd be a world-class addition. Kimmich has been lavished with praise by high-profile figures in the beautiful game and has won trophies galore in Bavaria.

"The No. 6 role that Joshua is playing for Bayern Munich and for the national team has become like the quarterback role in American Football," said former Bayern, Germany and USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann in May 2021.

"Joshua plays that to perfection. He is not only feisty in terms of winning the ball back, he knows right away what to do with the ball and who to connect to. He keeps the tempo of the game in place."

Lanka has long been a coach within the Sri Lankan system, and recently worked with the men’s Under-19 team.Sri Lanka do not have any matches scheduled until the end of 2020, with the 2021 ODI World Cup Qualifiers, originally slated to be held in the country in July this year, pushed back by a year. Nos bastidores, o Flamengo trabalha pelo retorno do público aos estádios há meses. A Prefeitura sinalizou positivamente para o estádio ter 10% do público liberado no próximo dia 18 de agosto, data da partida decisiva pela Libertadores. A possibilidade não animou o Flamengo. Segundo Rodrigo Dunshee, a operação do jogo no Maraca “não é economicamente sustentável” com essa capacidade.

Por mais que Flamengo e Prefeitura não “falem a mesma língua” atualmente, o retorno às arquibancadas dos estádio do Rio de Janeiro já não está tão distante.

Os dados do Consórcio de veículos de imprensa a partir de dados das secretarias estaduais de Saúde deste domingo, dia 1º de agosto, indicam que o Rio de Janeiro é o estado do Brasil com tendência de alta e número de casos e mortes por Covid-19 por dia. Um acréscimo de 20%, segundo as informações.

Ainda a respeito da pandemia no Rio, a média móvel dos últimos 7 dias é de 127 de mortes por Covid-19 por dia. Já a de casos é de 2.584 no Rio de Janeiro.

Ao todo, são 556 mil e 886 mortes no Brasil, e um total de 19 milhões 935 mil e 132 casos confirmados de Covid-19 até domingo, dia 1º de agosto. No Estado do Rio de Janeiro, foram 59 mil e 298 mortes e mais de 1 milhão de casos.

وأشارت إلى أن ريال مدريد سيعود إلى إسبانيا في وقت لاحق من يوم الأربعاء، ولكن مبابي لن يخضع للاختبارات إلا يوم الخميس.

وأفادت أنه كان من المقرر أن يكون خضوع مبابي للاختبارات اليوم، ولكن تقرر إعطاء مساحة أكبر من الوقت من أجل استرخاء العضلات، حيث أن الكثير من التوتر قد يؤدي إلى نتائج عكسية في التشخيص.

Speaking on X, teammate Oliver Norwood tipped Jebbison for big things back in 2023, explaining that the 20-year-old "will play at the top level & hopefully with us" when asked who fans should be most excited about from the Blades' academy.

And reporter Graeme Bailey has now revealed that Steinsson is personally a fan of the type of deal that Jebbison would represent.

“He is the sort of player Gretar Steinsson wants", Bailey explained. "Young, physical, something different to what they have in the squad, obviously youth. It would be a good deal, he is only young.

“There would be compensation to play but it wouldn’t be very expensive in terms of actual market value. It represents a good deal on all fronts really if they can get it over the line. It would be a decent coup because there is a lot of interest in him.”

It comes as HITC report that Jebbison is unlikely to remain at Bramall Lane after his £4,000 per week contract expires this summer, with the 20-year-old set to move on and Leeds pushing to secure him as a "priority" target.
