‘I’d rather have died!’ – What Dani Dyer thinks of vulgar Jarrod Bowen West Ham fan chant as former Love Island star is asked if famous father would have allowed her to date a Millwall player

Dani Dyer has revealed what she thinks of the vulgar West Ham fan chant in which she figures prominently alongside partner Jarrod Bowen.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Crude terrace songs are nothing new in football circles and former Love Island star Dyer knew what she was getting in to when linking up with England international winger Bowen in 2021. The London Stadium can often be heard rocking to the sound of “Bowen's on fire and he's sh*gging Dani Dyer” – with said chant sung to the tune of Nineties dance classic ‘Freed from Desire’ by Gala.

    WHAT DANI DYER SAID

Dyer has told the podcast when asked for her take on being the unfortunate star of a crass chant: “Not that long ago I went to an away game, and I don’t usually like going to the away games because there’s the die-hard fans that are crazy. I really needed a drink, so I was like, I’d rather have died of dehydration to be honest, that was the better option. I came out and they were all looking at me and they all sung the song, I was literally in the midst of the crowds. It’s fine, it’s so fine, it really doesn’t bother me.”

  • THE GOSSIP

Dani and Jarrod are now proud parents to twin girls, while Bowen has been welcomed into the Dyer family by film star and EastEnders actor Danny. Asked if her Hammers-mad father would have allowed her to date a player from arch-rivals Millwall, Dani said: “No! I don’t know, he wouldn’t care. Listen, people always say ‘oh, I bet your dad loves that because you’re dating someone from West Ham’, but he could be a total ars*hole, do you know what I mean? And he’s not, so I think that was just a bonus. The West Ham thing was a bonus.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Bowen – who netted the winning goal for West Ham in the 2023 Europa Conference League final – has continued to star for the Hammers this season. He has found the target on 11 occasions, while providing five assists, and will be hoping to form part of England’s plans at Euro 2024 this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo punishes Al-Fayha! CR7 pounces on terrible error to send Al-Nassr cruising into AFC Champions League quarter-finals

    TELL ME MORE

It was one-way traffic right from the start at Al-Awwal Stadium as Al-Nassr dominated possession, with Marcelo Brozovic pulling the strings from a deep-lying position in midfield. And they did not have to wait for long to break the deadlock as Otavio headed home an inch-perfect cross from Al-Khaibari in the 17th minute.

Although Ronaldo took his time to make his presence felt, once he warmed up he was right in the thick of things in attack. He was clamouring for a penalty after he was brought down inside the box by two Al-Fayha players, before being denied by the woodwork having risen highest in the penalty area.

Al-Nassr pushed on in search of their second of the night following the break and Ronaldo did find the net, but he was flagged offside after he mistimed his run by a fraction of a second.

However, with just four minutes from regulation time, the prolific forward put the tie to bed by finally getting his name on the scoresheet. A half-baked clearance from goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic ricocheted and fell kindly for Ronaldo, who simply rolled the ball into a gaping goal to seal a 3-0 victory over the two legs for the Knights of Najd against their domestic rivals.

    THE MVP

A late goal was the icing on the cake for Ronaldo, who came agonisingly close on a couple of occasions on the night. After emerging as the difference-maker in the first leg with an 81st-minute winner, the 39-year-old once again proved to be a handful for Al-Fayha defenders throughout the 90 minutes. Despite being denied by the frame of the goal and the offside flag, he kept asking questions and was finally rewarded for his perseverance late into the night.

    THE BIG LOSER

Al-Fayha goalkeeper Stojkovic must shoulder his fair share of blame after his team were knocked out of the continental competition. He could have done better with his legs to save Otavio's header and was again indecisive with the clearance that led to Al-Nassr's second of the night. A performance to forget for the Serbian shot-stopper.

‘There needs to be a sanction’ – Thomas Frank calls for swift Everton & Nottingham Forest punishment from Premier League as Brentford boss admits he ‘doesn’t care’ how many points are deducted

Brentford boss Thomas Frank wants a swift "sanction" against Everton and Nottingham Forest and admits he "doesn’t care" how many points are deducted.

    WHAT HAPPENED?

Everton saw their ten-point deduction reduced to six on appeal, and with Forest facing a similar hearing later this month, Frank stressed the importance of fair and consistent enforcement of regulations. The manager's remarks come amid concerns about the potential impact of points deductions on the Premier League relegation battle, with Brentford currently positioned 16th and fighting to stay afloat in the English top-flight. Any further sanctions against Everton and Forest could significantly alter the league table, affecting teams like Brentford that are closely involved in the relegation fight.

  • WHAT FRANK SAID

“For me, it’s very simple: if you break the rules, there needs to be sanction — end of discussion”, Frank told reporters on Friday.

“If it’s two points, six points, ten points, 20 points, I don’t care — that’s up to them. I’m here to try to coach a football team and try to win a few more football matches.

“The only thing I would say is Nottingham [Forest] and Everton will, with what you read, get a points deduction in the near future. They will appeal it, and then the result of that appeal we need to know before the end of the season, for everyone involved, especially for Nottingham and Everton.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Brentford have lost their last three matches in the Premier League and face an uphill battle against Chelsea to turn around their fortunes. However, Frank will be forced to field a makeshift backline as his first-choice defenders are all injured including Ben Mee who fractured his ankle during the 4-2 defeat at West Ham last Monday.

"More negative [news],” Frank said while updating on the injury issues. “It’s easier to continue down that route. Unfortunately, Ben Mee is injured and is out for the rest of the season, so that is just our entire back four from last season that is out. We’ve had far too many injuries, we’ve been very unlucky. We’ve actually had more than ten surgeries this season. It’s usually two or three you have.”

WHAT NEXT FOR (INSERT INDIVIDUAL(s) AND/OR TEAM NAMES)?

Brentford have a lengthy list of injured players which includes Joshua Dasilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, Ethan Pinnock, Bryan Mbeumo and Ben Mee. It can turn out to be a season-defining March for them as they are set to play Premier League powerhouses like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United this month. All eyes will be on Frank as to how he navigates through the fixtures with a depleted squad at his disposal.

Forest set for Spence disaster

Nottingham Forest loanee Djed Spence is the subject of interest from Tottenham with the right-back proving sensational on loan at the City Ground from Middlesbrough this season.

That’s according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold, who claims that Spurs are expected to make a move for the 21-year-old this summer with his future at Middlesbrough looking incredibly unlikely.

Spence has been an instant hit amongst the Forest faithful this term and has been a major contributor to their push towards promotion, with Steve Cooper’s side one win away from a first Premier League campaign since 1999.

There will certainly be hope that the East Midlands club can lure the Englishman back to the City Ground for next season on a permanent deal and Tottenham’s interest will certainly be a worry.

Forest heading for disaster

After Spence’s excellent contribution to Forest’s success this season, to see him leave Middlesbrough for another club will certainly be heartbreaking for Reds supporters, especially if they are to beat Huddersfield Town in next weekend’s play-off final to secure promotion.

The right-back has made 45 appearances for Nottingham Forest this season since joining on loan from Boro in August and has scored three goals as well as contributing to Cooper’s side’s stellar defence that conceded just 40 goals in 46 matches, one fewer than Bournemouth.

It would certainly be a no brainer for the Reds to attempt to lure the Englishman back to the City Ground on a permanent basis this summer, however, the prospect of playing Champions League football at Tottenham will certainly perk Spence’s ears up.

With Emerson Royal having a mixed first season in England and uncertainty surrounding Matt Doherty after the Irishman suffered a medial collateral ligament injury, there is definitely a claim to be made that the 21-year-old would play under Antonio Conte.

Moreover, the £7.2m-rated wing-back, labelled as “swashbuckling” by Ian Wright, has thrived in a system similar to Conte’s at Forest which could see the Englishman settle in quickly in north London despite taking the major step up from Championship football to top four contenders in the Premier League.

It would certainly be a disaster if Nottingham Forest are to be promoted and still miss out on Spence who will have a major call to make over his future this summer.

Wolve will ‘probably go for’ Goncalo Guedes

According to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Wolves will ‘probably go for’ Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes during the upcoming transfer window.

The Lowdown: Long-term Guedes interest

The 25-year-old first joined the Spanish giants in a £36m move from Paris Saint-Germain four years ago. He has since gone on to make 178 appearances at the Mestalla, scoring 36 goals and registering 30 assists during that time, as per Transfermarkt.

The Old Gold have been linked with a move for the Portuguese winger for quite a while now, and despite him still having just over 12 months remaining on his current contract, Valencia recently confirmed that they have suffered losses of €31.2m (£26.3m), so they might have no choice but to sell some of their most valuable assets this summer.

The Telegraph have also claimed that the Premier League outfit are to prioritise signing a new striker ahead of next season. The report stated that Wolves are ‘set to move’ for Guedes, who is a client of Jorge Mendes, an agent with very close links to Molineux.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/all-the-latest-from-wolves-8/” title=”All the latest from Wolves!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Taylor has suggested that he thinks Wolves are likely to view the 29-cap Portugal international as an ideal candidate to bolster their attacking ranks at Molineux, especially given the multiplicity of compatriots already in Bruno Lage’s squad.

He told GiveMeSport: “Goncalo Guedes is a player that they will probably go for. There’s been a long-standing interest in him, obviously he’s got that Portuguese connection; Joao Palhinha as well.”

The Verdict: Competition for Jimenez

Should the £36m-rated talisman decide to make the move to Molineux, he is someone who could provide some strong competition for Raul Jimenez, who has been subdued in front of goal this season.

Along with Daniel Podence, the Mexican has been the club’s joint-highest scorer this term with just six goals each across all competitions. Guedes found the net on 13 occasions for Valencia in 2021/22 and even turned provider six times for his team-mates.

This highlights just how much of a difference the 25-year-old could make in Lage’s starting XI, and with the aforementioned Portuguese connection, it’s a deal that the Wolves manager should be looking to get over the line as soon as possible.

Leeds: Barcelona’s Raphinha move in doubt

Raphinha’s proposed move from Leeds United to Barcelona in the summer transfer window is now in doubt.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), who claim that, despite the winger previously being said to have already agreed personal terms with the LaLiga side, Barca could now walk away from a deal for the Brazil international.

The report goes on to state that this is a result of the ongoing situation concerning Ousmane Dembele, the French forward who is out of contract at the Camp Nou this summer, but who is also a player Xavi is thought to be keen to tie down to a new deal.

Should Dembele remain at Barca, Mundo Deportivo claim that the Catalan outfit will neither have the space in their first-team squad nor the financial capacity to offer Raphinha his previously agreed salary – something that could well see the Spanish club’s move for the 25-year-old fall-through.

Supporters will be buzzing

While it is true that, even if Raphinha’s proposed move to Barcelona were to fall through, there would still be a considerable amount of interest in the winger – with Arsenal and Manchester United also having been linked with a move – considering how certain the Brazilian’s departure had previously looked, this latest twist in the saga is sure to have left Leeds supporters buzzing.

Indeed, should the Whites somehow manage to keep hold of the forward beyond the closure of the summer transfer window on September 1, it would certainly come as a huge boost to Jesse Marsch, Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani – as the attacker is undoubtedly one of the club’s most talented players.

This was evident over his 35 Premier League appearances in 2021/22, with the £40.5m-rated talent scoring 11 goals, registering three assists and creating 10 big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 2.5 shots, making 1.9 key passes and completing 1.8 dribbles per fixture.

These returns saw the £63k-per-week winger average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 6.97, ranking him as Marsch’s second-best performing outfielder in the top flight.

As such, while Orta has already sealed the exciting addition of Brenden Aaronson this summer, as well as the Whites being linked with a number of other highly-rated targets, should Raphinha indeed remain at Elland Road heading into 2022/23, it would undoubtedly be the biggest result of the Whites’ transfer window.

AND in other news: Marsch can form an “unstoppable” duo as Leeds plot £21m bid for £20k-p/w “phenomenon”

Manchester United: Agent working on Marco Asensio move

The agent of Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio reportedly wants to take the Spaniard to Manchester United this summer.

The Lowdown: Asensio’s Madrid career

The 26-year-old signed for Madrid back in 2015 from Mallorca and has gone on to enjoy great success at the Bernabeu.

Asensio, described as ‘magical’ by teammate Casemiro, has made 235 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 49 goals, registering 24 assists and winning 14 major honours.

Capable of playing on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, the Spain international is entering the final 12 months of his contract, and it looks as if a move away could be a possibility as the player himself revealed talks will take place after Spain’s Nations League games.

Sports Witness relayed an update from El Chiringuito journalist Marcos Benito regarding Asensio and United.

They claimed that super-agent Jorge Mendes, who now represents Asensio, ‘wants to take’ the 26-year-old to Manchester United and has ‘good ties’ with officials at Old Trafford.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-man-utd-updates-3/” title=”Latest Man Utd updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Interesting…

Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, Asensio could well be available for a knockdown fee over the coming months due to his contract situation.

He could be of use to Erik ten Hag, especially with the Dutchman not having a senior right-winger to choose from at this moment in time. Bruno Fernandes will also be Ten Hag’s only available senior attacking midfielder when Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard leave, so bringing in Asensio who has plenty of experience and is extremely versatile could be a shrewd move, providing the price is right.

It looks as if Asensio’s agent wants a move to materialise, so this could be one to watch closely.

West Ham: Journalist makes ‘ongoing’ Lewis-Potter claim

Journalist Toby Cudworth of 90min has now shared a West Ham United transfer update involving Hull City forward Keane Lewis-Potter.

The Lowdown: Moyes in transfer chase…

After just missing out on a 2022/2023 Europa League place to Man United on the Premier League final day, it is believed that the Hammers are seeking summer reinforcements to come back stronger.

Attackers are believed to be high on the agenda for manager David Moyes as links continue to surround the likes of Leeds United star Raphinha and long-time target Jesse Lingard (90min).

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins is another who is of interest to the east Londoners with Cudworth now sharing news on Championship sensation Lewis-Potter.

The Latest: West Ham eye move…

According to the 90min journalist, West Ham’s chase is ‘ongoing’ to sign the 21-year-old with Moyes eyeing the starlet forward.

He explained:

“Interest in Raphinha remains & Keane Lewis-Potter chase ongoing. Difficult deals to do given vast interest and price tags but clear West Ham want forwards.”

The Verdict: Get it done…

Reports have suggested that the Englishman could cost up to £20 million, but going by his age and scintillating form, he’d be worth every penny.

Called a ‘special’ attacker by former Hull boss Grant McCann, Lewis-Potter has been a mainstay for The Tigers over this last season and finished 2021/2022 as their most threatening player (WhoScored).

He bagged more Championship goals (12) and racked up more attempts per 90 than any of his teammates over last season (WhoScored), marking himself out as truly elite prospect who could shine at the London Stadium.

Rangers transfer news on Barisic

A Turkish top flight club are now very keen to sign Borna Barisic from Glasgow Rangers this summer.

The Lowdown: Not the best season

Barisic did not have the best season individually for the Ibrox outfit, despite them getting to the UEFA Europa League final and winning the Scottish Cup.

BBC Scotland’s chief sports writer Tom English described him as looking ‘punch-drunk‘ during an abject performance against bitter rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, while he was also criticised by The Rangers Review journalist Jonny McFarlane during the UEL final loss against Frankfurt.

It is safe to say that the Croatia international has struggled in big games, and so Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team may now be looking to part ways.

The Latest: Trabzonspor interest

As per Football Scotland, Trabzonspor are now ‘weighing up’ a move for Barisic, and are ‘very keen’ to lure him to Turkey.

They are ‘likely’ to come in with an offer, which comes after the Light Blues rejected a £2m bid from Watford for Barisic in the January transfer window.

The Verdict: Get rid

The Teddy Bears have been heavily linked with a move for Stoke City left-back Josh Tymon, and so should they sign him and manage to keep Calvin Bassey on their books, then Barisic will no longer be needed.

The 29-year-old only has two years left remaining on his contract with the Gers, and so the summer provides the optimum time to sell in order to get his maximum worth.

Nonetheless, some of his performances last term were quite frankly disappointing, and so his time at the club could well be up.

Spurs leading Evan Ndicka race

An update has emerged on Tottenham and their pursuit of Evan Ndicka in the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

According to Foot Mercato, Spurs are the team leading the race to land the French centre-back from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The report claims that Ligue 1 side Marseille are keen to rival the Premier League side to his signature and are waiting for cash to come in before making their move.

It was recently reported that Frankfurt are willing to cash in on the £20m gem but it remains to be seen how much Fabio Paratici is prepared to pay for him.

Jan Vertonghen 2.0

By securing a deal to sign Ndicka this summer, Tottenham can find their new Jan Vertonghen at left centre-back.

The Belgian defender played 314 times for the club during his time in north London as he dominated attackers over the course of a number of years. He was also excellent at building the play on his left foot with a career average pass completion rate of 86.6%.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

Vertonghen was a staple on the left of Tottenham’s back four and Ndicka can now come in to be Antonio Conte’s own version of the now-Benfica machine.

The 22-year-old ball player has proven his quality in the Bundesliga with an impressive 2021/22 campaign. He averaged a sublime SofaScore rating of 7.12 in the division, winning 60% of his individual duels and making 3.4 tackles and interceptions per game.

Former Frankfurt player Alexander Schur claimed the Frenchman “shows no nerves”. He has also been praised by his former boss Adi Hutter, with the head coach saying: “I honestly have to say that I was surprised by his development. Evan has developed phenomenally. He’s very attentive in the analysis of his own game. He’s very modest and always takes a lot on board.”

Ndicka has also shown his quality in possession on his left foot. He ended the Bundesliga campaign with a pass completion rate of 84% and chipped in with four goals and four assists from centre-back, showing that he can be a force at both ends of the pitch.

The gem has shown that he can be a strong, consistent, defender in his own half whilst contributing offensively, whether by finding a teammate in the build-up or being directly involved in a goal.

Therefore, Tottenham can find their new Vertonghen by sealing a £20m deal for Ndicka in the coming weeks…
